This Thursday is The Lesson on SPONSOR!

“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17

By now, most of us have come to the realization of the truth that our road to recovery is not meant to be traveled alone. In order for our recovery to be most effective, we actually need three key relationships: 1.) a relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ, 2.) a relationship with our recovery group and/or church family, and 3.) a relationship with a sponsor. This third relationship is one that we’ll be discussing in more depth this week. Many times throughout the Bible, there are references to the fact that we benefit most when we are in community with others. In recovery, we especially benefit from walking alongside those that are like-minded and have already traveled the road that lies before us.

Digging up truth about our past experiences (and even our present circumstances) can be a very heavy thing to do and is best done with someone beside you to pray for and with you, encourage you, and remind you of the truth when you’re tempted to believe lies. This week, join us as we get into more detail about what a sponsor is, how to go about finding one, and what their role or involvement in your life should look like.

“Two are better off than one, because together they can work more effectively. If one of them falls down, the other can help him up. But if someone is alone…, there is no one to help him… Two men can resist an attack that would defeat one man alone.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
