Men’s Coin Ceremony!

“The step study helped me to face myself and my deeper thoughts, which before recovery, I did very little of due to either lack willingness or a lack of understanding of how. I was able to see how God uses people to reveal and reflect different thoughts and feelings regarding my own recovery. God helped me uncover some of the things that I have been holding on too and some on the reasons why I struggle with control, among other issues, and how my natural tendency to isolate and withdraw come in to play when I get overwhelmed or things do not go how I expect them. This leads to anxiety which can lead to my destructive or non-healthy behaviors. As a result of the Step Study, I can recognize my feelings and how to interpret them quicker so I am more prepared to break a cycle that leads to unhealthy behaviors. He showed me that there are things in my past that He has forgiven me of, I just needed to do what He says and accept his forgiveness so the weight of my sins do not hold me back from reflecting his glory. Through these steps, He also showed me more of what a relationship with him looks like. Previously, God was someone I believed in, but did not understand what a relationship with Him looked like or how He can affect my life on a day to day basis.”  Step Study Participant

“You are my witnesses,” declares the Lordand my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me.” Isaiah 43:10

It is amazing the bonds we form when we share experiences with other people. When we are going through a situation, whether good or bad, it is so valuable to have people in your life that will walk through it and share that experience with you. Particularly when it is a difficult situation that you’re facing, it is equally valuable and important to also seek the wisdom of those that have gone before you and already faced that same or a similar experience. Because they have walked in your shoes, they are able to provide counsel and encouragement to you in very specific and meaningful ways that others simply could not manage.

Join us this week as we hear from some of our Celebrate Recovery participants. Our hope is that their stories and the victories God has given them will serve as great encouragement to you as you navigate your road to recovery.

“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.”  – Hebrews 10:35-36

Recovery Reminder

Principle 5: Voluntarily submit to every change God wants to make in my life and humbly ask Him to remove my character defects.

“Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires.” Matthew 5:6

Step 6: We were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.

“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.” James 4:10

Step 7: We humbly asked Him to remove all our shortcomings.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”  1 John 1:19
