Testimony – ERIC
In Principle 5 (below), we come to a critical decision, where we must choose God’s will or our own. We can continue living and making decisions as we always have and achieve the same results that we have always achieved OR we can choose to change and to seek His wisdom. When we ask for His guidance, we can achieve greater things than we would ever have been capable of on our own. Come hear as Eric shares with us about how he invited God to guide his decision-making and take control on his life when it seemed to be spinning out of control. Here is snapshot of where Eric found himself, before turning to God to redirect his steps.
“…I ran over anyone who would play along with me in this insanity. To most, I was the devil himself. My footprint of pain ran from New York to California and from Mexico to Missouri. I was the type of guy that would just as soon knock you out as speak to you. I was full of anger, resentment, hurt, fear, rejection, and I had a mission to inflict as much destruction on this world as I could. I hated God for the death of my dad and I hated myself even more. Every day I would wake up and be astonished that I wasn’t dead from an OD. I thought it was God’s sick way of punishing me. I wanted to die and he wouldn’t let me…”
“But I reckon my own life to be worth nothing to me; I only want to complete my mission and finish the work that the Lord Jesus gave me to do, which is to declare the Good News about the grace of God.” Acts 20:24
Recovery Reminder
Principle 5: Voluntarily submit to every change God wants to make in my life and humbly ask Him to remove my character defects.
“Happy are those whose greatest desire is to do what God requires.” Matthew 5:6
Step 6: We were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.” James 4:10
