Lesson #3 – HOPE
“Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him.” Psalm 62:5
In Principle 2, written below, our attention is drawn to our basic need to confess that God exists and that we believe He has the power and the desire to help us in and through our recovery. We accept that we are important to Him and that He wants to fill our lives with His love, His joy, and His presence.
What we find in Principle 2 is a very personal relationship with Jesus, & we’ll see that He can do for us what we have never quite been able to do for ourselves. Hope draws its power from having a deep trust in God. This week we will be encouraged to take this step of hope. It will give us the courage to reach out and take hold of Christ’s hand, enabling us to face our present circumstances as well as the future with realistic expectancy–hope!
“Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1
Recovery Reminder
Principle 2: Earnestly believe that God exists, that I matter to Him, and that He has the power to help me recover.
“Happy are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:4
Step 2: We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
“For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose.” Philippians 2:13
