Ben Will Be Giving His CR Testimony!
“The structure of the inventory step forced me to focus my mind and identify the basic fears and assumptions that had pushed me to my lowest point: the lie I had accepted in my heart and my mind was that I was unwanted and unwelcome by God and others. I had never before identified my deep-seated resentments, and I had yet to make the connection between that pattern and abuse. By the end of the study I had identified some of my deepest flaws, and having God’s spirit in me allowed Him to begin working those things loose and out of my life. The first time I walked into this building, my marriage was bleeding out, characterized by hurt, anger and mutual distrust. As I made amends to my wife for my failures and shared the changes occurring in my relationship with God, she too began to seek recovery for herself. We moved forward together, and began to trust each other both in our marriage and in caring for our children.”
Come hear of how God has worked in Ben’s life, & be encouraged by his Testimony. Dinner starts at 5:30, large group at 6:30.
Recovery Reminder
Principle 6: Evaluate all my relationships. Offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me and make amends for harm I’ve done to others, except when to do so would harm them or others.
“Happy are the merciful.” Matthew 5:7
“Happy are the peacemakers.” Matthew 5:9
Step 8: We made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all.
“Do to others as you would have them do to you.” Luke 6:31
Step 9: We made direct amends to such people whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:23-24
