This Thursday is Lesson #20 – DAILY INVENTORY!
There is just something about putting thoughts down on paper that is unlike sharing them in conversation or simply thinking them through. When we put pen to paper & start asking ourselves thoughtful questions about our life &, more specifically, about each day, we can begin to see patterns–both good & bad–that are forming, track growth that is taking place, & determine areas that need our attention & possibly more accountability.
Our daily inventory should consist of both the high & low points of our day, including our successes & also those times when we may have blown it or dropped the ball. The “Great Commandment” in Matthew 22:37-40, Jesus says, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart…soul and…mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'”By putting our Celebrate Recovery principles & steps into action, we try to follow these two commandments. And by keeping our daily inventory, we can better ensure that our actions are consistent with our words &, more importantly, that they are consistent with God’s word.
Principle 7: Reserve a daily time with God for self-examination, Bible reading, and prayer in order to know God and His will for my life and to gain the power to follow His will.
“Happy are those who Celebrate Recovery” Someone.
Step 10: We continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.
“So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!” 1 Corinthians 10:12
