This Thursday is Mike’s Testimony!
“My place of employment had no choice but to let me go. I found myself without hope, without money, without friends, broken, and at the end of myself. I could not do it anymore. I cried out for help, but this time I cried to the God of Grace. I finally saw my need and only Jesus could meet it.
I contacted my parents and my aunt and told them my situation. My aunt told me about a Christ centered recovery program in the mountains in North Carolina. That I would have to contact them directly and request an application, that it is faith based and would not cost anything to go. After returning home, I began to prepare for recovery.
One of the first things that I needed to get was a Bible. In my broken state, I remember taking a Bible off the shelf of my parent’s home. I sat down and placed the Bible in my lap, on the first page I read. “For Mike from Nita, May 2005.”
God had been pursuing me for longer than I knew. With my interest increasing, I opened the Bible and a small piece of paper fell into my lap. On this paper, a verse was highlighted, II Kings 20:5 “I have heard your prayer and seen your tears. Behold I will heal you.”’
Come join Mike on Thursday Night to hear more of how God has worked in his life. Dinner at 5:30, large group starts at 6:30.
Recovery Reminder
Principle 6: Evaluate all my relationships. Offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me and make amends for harm I’ve done to others, except when to do so would harm them or others.
“Happy are the merciful.” Matthew 5:7
“Happy are the peacemakers.” Matthew 5:9
Step 9: We made direct amends to such people whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:23-24
Thursday’s Dinner: Dinner starts at 530, seared chicken, mushroom gravy, roasted rosemary baby potatoes, mixed veggie, & a salad.
