Testimony – MELISSA
This week we will blessed by Melissa, who will share with us some stories that have occured along her road to recovery. Here’s a preview of what she will share this Thursday night:
“…I cried out to The Lord. ‘God if you are real, you have to do something!’ The drug addict I had been living with always talked about Jesus. I had never heard about Jesus or the Bible! But God can use anybody, anywhere to save His people. At that moment, I sensed God say to me, ‘I was with you when they abused you, I am with you now and I will be with you forever.’ It was in that exact moment, that I felt a house come off my chest and I breathed in as if it were my first breath ever. I got up, for in my insanity, I had an encounter with the Living God. From here, it would be another couple of relapses and recovery homes before I would get sober and stay sober…”
“The LORD says: ‘I will return her vineyards to her and transform the Valley of Trouble into a gateway of hope. She will give herself to me there, as she did long ago when she was young, when I freed her from her captivity in Egypt. When that day comes,’ says the LORD, ‘you will call me ‘my husband’ instead of ‘my master.'” Hosea 2:15 – 16
Recovery Reminder
Principle 1: Realize I’m not God. I admit that I am powerless to control my tendency to do the wrong thing and that my life is unmanageable.
“Happy are those who are persecuted because they do what God requires.” Matthew 5:3
Step 1: We admitted we were powerless over our addictions and compulsive behaviors, that our lives had become unmanageable.
“I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.” Romans 7:18
