This Thursday is Diana’s Testimony!
“Almost 5 years ago now, I arrived at those doors we all came through tonight to attend my first Celebrate Recovery meeting. I was scared to death but was needy and desperate. Over the years, I had quit drinking but then to handle my emotions, I turned to food. I recognized by this time that binge eating was a regular part of my life and that I could no longer control it. I arrived at those doors physically sick, depressed, scared, needy, guilt ridden, angry, bitter, full of shame…. that was me but still pretending all was good. I had left the “legalistic” Christianity and had been on a 5 year journey, visiting churches, trying to find whatever it was I was looking for but could not name. I had visited South Tampa Fellowship upon the invitation of a close friend and I liked the preaching and teaching which I would understand later as full of God’s Grace. God was becoming less of an angry God to me and I was growing closer to him as my Father but there were still roadblocks to completely trusting him. I was curious about Celebrate Recovery and when I first started coming, I would attend large group and then bolt for those doors. I finally made it to the newcomer’s class and decided it probably wouldn’t be too bad to try this thing called Celebrate Recovery and maybe in just a short time I could figure out what to do about my binge eating, get a quick fix. So with that attitude and mindset, I finally made it to the small groups. In CR, I began living less isolated……”
