Men’s Coin Ceremony!

“You are my witnesses,” declares the Lordand my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me.” Isaiah 43:10

It is amazing the bonds we form when we share experiences with other people. When we are going through a situation, whether good or bad, it is so valuable to have people in your life that will walk through it and share that experience with you. Particularly when it is a difficult situation that you’re facing, it is equally valuable and important to also seek the wisdom of those that have gone before you and already faced that same or a similar experience. Because they have walked in your shoes, they are able to provide counsel and encouragement to you in very specific and meaningful ways that others simply could not manage.

Join us this week as we hear from some of our Celebrate Recovery participants. Our hope is that their stories and the victories God has given them will serve as great encouragement to you as you navigate your road to recovery.

“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.”  – Hebrews 10:35-36

“The first night was surprisingly easy, but that second night when I had to come by myself was difficult, it wasn’t large group that was hard it was crossing the threshold of the men’s open discussion group, because for the first time I would have to admit to strangers, I was an addict.  But let me tell yeah God was with me that first night upstairs and from then on I was all in, I signed up for a step study that night and never looked back.

It’s been a great and rewarding experience the journey God has taken me on through this step study, the biggest take away was how God has revealed to me the spectrum of my emotions.  I’ve said numerous times over this year men have more emotions then happy, mad, and hungry.  God has given me a safe place to explore and share that spectrum like I’ve never done before.”       Dexter

“Choosing to attend the step study was what I would classify as a classic easy decision that was hard to make. I knew I needed to do it but honestly the big fat liar still had a hold of me so I was basically scared of committing to the study.  I had been attending CR for 9-10 months when the step study was set to begin. Frankly I had settled into a routine I was getting comfortable with which involved learning about the steps but not really working them and I knew that. I knew that to continue to grow I needed to follow what God was putting on my heart.

However I was ambivalent and looking for excuses and for me the excuse was how much I travel for work. Luckily I had some encourager’s and was told just show up, we will deal with the travel and God will make a way…and you know something he did, obviously I am standing here.”         Rick
