Lesson #5 – TURN
“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” 2 Corinthians 5:17
We have all experienced that life is ever-changing, and nothing is ever quite certain. This week, we will learn about what it means to turn away from our insanity – always searching for truth and stability around us – and instead place our trust in a certain God. This is what faith is. It does not come down to a sense, sight, or reason. And once we have chosen to turn away from our sin and toward Him, He will joyously give us a new life, no longer bound to our old sinful nature.
Recently, two step study leaders experienced an unexpected turn of events. Not long ago, one of their group participants became ill. After battling that illness, along with other health problems, for a little while, that group member passed away. This Thursday, we will hear a little bit more about this person, how the Lord impacted her life as well as how she impacted her group during the short time that God had them together.
“Repent! Turn away from all your offenses; then sin will not be your downfall. Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit.” Ezekiel 18: 30 – 31
Recovery Reminder
Principle 3: Consciously choose to commit my life and will to Christ’s care and control.
“Happy are the meek.” Matthew 5:5
Step 3: We made a decision to turn our lives and our wills over to the care of God.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship.” Romans 12:1
