Pastor JJ will Teach Lesson #9 INVENTORY!

This week, we’ve come to a crucial step in our recovery process – writing down our inventory. The simple act of writing helps us organize our thoughts and focus on recalling people and events, including those that we may have forgotten or repressed in some way. Reflecting on our past, we seek to identify the things that have played important roles – both positive and negative – in our lives.

As you set out to write your inventory, continue to develop your recovery support team and remember that you are not alone. Be mindful to pray continually, asking the Lord to encourage and guide you through each step. Ask him to help you maintain a balance as you seek to recall past people and events and resist the urge to allow the negative to outweigh or overshadow the positive. Join us this Thursday night as we are equipped and encouraged to write our inventory.

“‘Come, let’s talk this over!’ says the Lord; ‘no matter how deep the stain of your sins, I can take it out and make you as clean as freshly fallen snow. Even if you are stained as red as crimson, I can make you white as wool!'” Isaiah 1:18

Recovery Reminder

Principle 4: Openly examine and confess my faults to myself, to God, and to someone I trust.

“Happy are the pure in heart.” Matthew 5:8

Step 4: We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

“Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the LORD.” Lamentations 3:40

Thursday’s Dinner:

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us last Saturday for the CR Huddle.

Prayer from Huddle:
Perseverance (John 10:27, Romans 8:31)

LORD, help us to hear your voice and follow you. Help us realize that you give us eternal life, and no one can snatch us out of your hand.

Help us to remember that we are more than conquerors, and that there is no condemnation in you! Nothing can separate us from your love.

We trust you to strengthen us as we use your armor each day against the devil’s schemes.

Repentance: (Psalm 51)

Have mercy on us, O God, according to your unfailing love, according to your great compassion, blot out our transgressions. Wash away all our iniquities and cleanse us from all our sins. Against you and only you have we sinned and done what is evil in your sight.

Create in us a pure heart O God and renewed steadfast spirit within us. Restore to us the joy of thy salvation and grant us a willing spirit to sustain us.

Then will we teach transgressors thy ways so that other seekers will turn back to you.

Attitude: (Jeremiah 17:10, Psalm 86:11))

LORD search our hearts as Leaders of Celebrate Recovery and examine our minds, reward each of us according to our conduct, according to what our deeds deserve. We pray, you will give us the willingness to get to the root of things and treat them as they really are and not what we pretend them to be.  Give us an undivided heart, that we may fear your name.

Yielding: (Isaiah 42)

God Almighty, we praise you, and you ALONE are sufficient, Lord Jesus. We pray for THE Celebrate Recovery Leadership and every volunteer that does your work, that we may yield to your Holy Spirit. You are sufficient FOR USAND so we nail to your cross all OUR idols, ourselves, our egos (greatness), our love for materialistic things. You are sufficient for us. Let us not do anything WITH conceit, but in total humility, count you more significant. WHATEVER we do, may we do it for you and YOUR GLORY alone, so we may be an extension of you.

Example: (Philippines 2:14-15)

We at Celebrate Recovery do everything without grumbling or arguing, so we at Celebrate Recovery may become blameless and pure, “Children of God, without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then we at Celebrate Recovery will shine among them like stars in the sky.

Redemption: (Psalm 54:7, Isaiah 35:10)

We pray that You deliver the CR Leadership, volunteers, and participants from all troubles, and keep their eyes focused on their triumphs over their enemies. And those the Lord has rescued will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.
