Testimony – CHERYL
We’ve all tried to go our own way and run ahead of God. Other times, perhaps we’ve lagged behind, unwilling to go where He’d have us go or do what He’d have us do. Maybe some challenges have seemed too great or pain has seemed easier to avoid rather than trust God to heal. But the sooner we realize the safest and best place for us is right alongside Him, the better off we are. We must stay close to the Lord and familiar with His word in order to have the strength needed to face the various seasons in life. God always has our very best in mind, but in order to experience it, we must trust His timing and rely on Him to direct our steps. Come hear from Cheryl this week as she encourages us with the truth that nothing can separate us from the love of God – our creator, father, redeemer, and friend.
“I was sitting on the porch under the massive oaks of my childhood summers when I asked God why I was such a mess. He allowed me to see that I had lost every external expression of who I was. My health, my family, my church family, my neighbors, my career – all gone. It was okay to grieve. He also reminded me of the promise in His word that nothing could separate me from His love. Romans 8:38 says, ‘For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come , nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate me from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.’ In that moment, I became deeply aware of the truth of that scripture. Not one moment since my husband left me had I felt abandoned by my heavenly Father. He had been holding on to me when I was totally unable to hold onto Him. And I began to experience the hope that I would indeed get through this suffering. Even with this realization, I managed to act out a lot of crazy behavior during that first year after the divorce was final. I did things out of my hurt, rebellion, and pride that I never dreamed I would do.”
“Such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus.” Corinthians 6:11
