NAIL IT TO THE CROSS

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”  Matthew 11:28-30

This week we are coming together to recognize that there are burdens we carry with us that are simply not ours to bear. We may have carried them with us for a few short weeks or several long, exhausting years. Sometimes we grow accustomed to them and somehow find comfort in them always being there. But God has called us to a better life – a life that is not weighed down by such burdens as anxiety, shame, depression, or guilt. No matter how long we have born their weight, we will come together with one purpose – to lay them at the foot of the cross.

We must acknowledge that we are not capable of carrying these burdens on our own. Instead, we must place them in the loving and capable hands of our Lord.  On the cross, He already bore the weight of our sin, and from that point on, as soon as we ask Him for forgiveness, He freely gives it to us. That forgiveness instantly releases us from the burden of our sins, our past, our mistakes. We must be willing to accept His forgiveness and allow Him to take our burdens from us. Join us this week as trade in our burdens, both new and old, for the peace that only Christ can provide.

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”  John 14:27

PLEASE NOTE

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday next week, we will be having Small Groups ONLY at 7:30 PM.

Recovery Reminder

Principle 7: Reserve a daily time with God for self-examination, Bible reading, and prayer in order to know God and His will for my life and to gain the power to follow His will.

Step 11: Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and power to carry that out.

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.”   Colossians 3:16
