Testimony – ASHLEY

Below is a glimpse at the road to recovery that the Lord has been leading Ashley along. Please be in prayer for Ashley this week as she prepares to share her story with us. Also ask the Lord to prepare your heart for what He has to share with you through Ashley’s testimony.

“When I first came to CR, I relapsed daily, and I’ve picked up about 100 surrender chips–I stopped counting. My days turned to weeks, and then I’d relapse. My weeks turned to months, and then I relapsed. This pattern continued until I relapsed 6 months in, and had a different experience. It was the first time I had been pained by the hurt that I felt I was causing God, who loved me so dearly. I did not feel condemned or shamed. Instead, I felt loved and hurt by the separation that my sin had caused in my relationship with Him. I understood His grace. I confessed and I continued on this road to recovery. Through my relapses, my sponsor always encouraged me to keep going. I did not believe I could do it, but she did, and that was enough for me to hold on to. I learned one of my favorite verses — Isaiah 1:16-18. It says: “‘Come now, let’s settle this,’ says the Lord. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow. Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.'” We did settle it. And the Lord has forgiven me.”

Recovery Reminder

Principle 7: Reserve a daily time with God for self-examination, Bible reading, and prayer in order to know God and His will for my life and to gain the power to follow His will.

Step 10: We continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.

“So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!”  1 Corinthians 10:12
