Men’s Coin Ceremony
“The LORD upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down.” Psalm 145:14
The following are three brief testimonials of those who have sought help, healing, & recovery through CR Step Studies:
“I grew up in a very performance-driven environment, applauded for what I did and how well I did it. I learned to mask my true feelings and avoid conflict. These strategies have led to problems in my relationship with my wife. I heard about CR through the church, friends, and, ultimately, my wife. Eventually, I signed up for a Step Study. By working through it, I have learned a lot about myself. I see where my co-dependent nature comes from, how unhealthy it is in leading to a deep and meaningful relationship with my wife, and how I, in my own strength, am powerless to overcome this nature. I would recommend that everyone go through a Step Study. I love God with all my heart & I am trying to have a great marriage. Things aren’t perfect, & life isn’t perfect, but that’s okay. Take a moment to stop and consider joining a CR Step Study. I would encourage you to give one a try and really give it your all. I am absolutely confident that God will reward your effort and change your life.”
“I have recently completed a Men’s Step Study. I chose to attend the Step Study to help me reestablish an active relationship with my Lord and Savior, and to seek an understanding of my anger issues. Through the step study, I was led by the steps to an understanding that I was a creation of God (good/pure). My thoughts, beliefs and morals had been affected/infected by my living in an imperfect world…and long periods of disassociation with my God. I have reestablished a truthful relationship with my Lord and have experienced victory in even more areas than I had hoped, thanks to my Step Study and CR. But I do have massive room for improvements and thankfully, I have a plan to help me in the right direction.”
“Not too many years ago, I was overwhelmed with feelings of shame, despair, helplessness, lust, resentment, anger, & selfishness. Last month marked the start of my 4th year of working my CR program, and I’ve now finished two Step Studies. God does not expect me or my recovery to be perfect, but I believe He does expect me to keep working my recovery program. Sometimes that means just making the decision to just show up or simply make one call. I truly believe that God put me in my 2nd Step Study, because He knew that I was going to need even more tools and support to get through this past year and continue my recovery. During my last Step Study, God has daily given me everything I need to make it through every day, one day at a time, sometimes one moment at a time, and often even one thought at a time. This past year, I have learned to trust the promises of God, rather than focusing on my own problems.”
“And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone.” 1 Thessalonians 5:14
Recovery Reminder
Principle 6: Evaluate all my relationships. Offer forgiveness to those who have hurt me & make amends for harm I’ve done to others, except when to do so would harm them or others.
“Happy are the merciful.” Matthew 5:7
“Happy are the peacemakers.” Matthew 5:9
Step 9: We made direct amends to such people whenever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
“Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.” Matthew 5:23-24
