Testimony – SHANNON
It is amazing the bonds we form when we share experiences with others. When we are going through a situation, whether good or bad, it’s so valuable to have people in our lives that will walk through and share that experience with us. Particularly when facing a difficult situation, it is important to also seek the wisdom of those that have gone before and already faced that same or a similar experience. Because they’ve walked in our shoes, they’re able to provide counsel and encouragement to us in very specific ways that others simply could not manage. Join us this week as we hear from one of our Celebrate Recovery participants. Our hope is that his story and the victories God has given him will serve as great encouragement to you as you navigate your road to recovery. Here is a brief preview…
“My addiction was like an internal hurricane. Periodically, a lull would occur, but a tidal onslaught would always be right around the corner. There is a story in the Bible of a demon being removed from a person. However, that person didn’t fill the new hole in their life with positive things, and the demon, seeing that there was an opportunity to go back into that person’s life, not only goes back but takes several other demons with it, and then that person is worse off than they were before. That is a story I can relate to, because when I stopped attending counseling and Celebrate Recovery, I soon went into a tailspin and crossed lines that I never thought I would.”
“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55 : 10-11
Recovery Reminder
Principle 7: Reserve a daily time with God for self-examination, Bible reading, and prayer in order to know God and His will for my life and to gain the power to follow His will.”
Step 10: We continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.
“So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!” 1 Corinthians 10:12
